More about exposure points

Each hit, or impression, is counted as a fresh page view, i.e. a page loaded from the server. A click is counted when the advertisement displaying your art is clicked, and the individual who clicked is taken to your gallery.

Smart clicks

Once a person clicks your promotional ad, they can still continue to see your work on the sidebar, but won't use up any more hits for that IP address. In this way you can get the most bang for your buck, and you won't be charged for delivering a message to someone who has already acted on that message.

Viewing or clicking your own ad while you're logged in won't count against your total, either.

Bots are bad

Websites, including ours, are visited by non-human spiders that load pages as humans do, and can use up some of your exposure points. Generally these are search engines like Google, Bing, etc. We have a number of techniques in place to ensure that only real people are viewing your art, and not bots. These methods include using JavaScript for the link code, which most bots can't "see", and analyzing the hits and clicks before deducting them from your total.

Juggling campaigns

If more than one person has purchased exposure points, the artist who comes up on a particular page will be chosen randomly. In other words, if there are 10 people including you who are running campaigns simultaneously, your art has a 1 in 10 chance of displaying each time a new page is viewed. Of course, your exposure points are only used up when your art is displayed.
