Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Often called the western Sergio Leone would have made...on acid. This is Jodorowsky's magnum opus(the 80 year old director unfortunately only made a small handful of films).
The plot involves a mysterious leather clad gunman(who might be God) and his encounters, trials and gunfights with some of the most bizarre characters ever. Trippy to say the least(John Lennon introduced this film to 70's audiences- Yoko probably had a helping hand), shocking imagery that ranks up with Pasolini's Salo and Brass' Caligula. You'll never look at westerns the same way after this.
