Dear Microbes,
Is it me, or have comedy films taken a nose dive straight into the no laughter zone?
What happened to sketch comedy like the Marx Brothers or Abbott & Costello?!
Talk about pure genius dialogue and righteous laughs. Question: Who is your favorite current comedian? I will begin the thread.
favorite current/not always but sometimes does stand-up comedian is
Jerry Seinfeld. His jokes are so simple and sincere, its hard keeping a straight face.

Seinfeld as a stand up, in my opinion is not very funny, however I love the T.V. show where he plays the 'straight man' and the other characters are the funny ones. I think George Castanza is really funny.

Nobody in the current crop stands out for me. Chris Rock and Ron White are good in concert. Most modern comedy films are using ensemble casts, so there really isn't anybody more funny than anybody else for me. Some of Mel Brooks and the Zucker Bros. still work for me. I like dark satire, something they really don't make anymore.

ya, well after reading this thread I really had to scratch my head, as I would agree that no one really stands out that much. Seems like the days of such are gone - everyone in standup nowdays are trying to hard.
