New art contest - Wilderness

Postby bloodjelly » Tue Apr 15, 2008 3:15 pm

Theme: Wilderness
Medium: Any (using at least one of the images given)
Deadline: May 1, 2008
Prizes:
Rules
Pick one or more of the provided images and use them to create a scene, political statement, pattern, or whatever you'd like. The theme of your entry must be wilderness. We'll take anything that corresponds to this definition (literally or figuratively):

  • wilderness - noun
a wild and uncultivated region, as of forest or desert, uninhabited or inhabited only by wild animals; a tract of wasteland.
You must use at least one of the images provided in a significant (i.e. noticeable) way in your creation. You can modify any or all of the images however you choose, so long as it's obvious that at least one of the provided images has been used. You can combine these images with any other artwork you wish, as long as it's yours.

You don't have to use these images digitally. Feel free to print them out, paint or draw them. Of course you'll have to digitally photograph or scan your final creation to post it on the site. ;)

Only one entry per person! Voting begins May 2, 2008 and ends May 6, 2008.

Cool! I've been wanting to do a contest of some sort...
Who chose the four pictures?

Curious: If the winner already has a website here, is there an alternate prize, or would the subscription be for an additional year, or should we attempt for 2nd place instead? :P

:D Good question. If you already have a site here, or have a website already/don't need a Reach gallery, I'll give you a $20 Amazon.com gift certificate, like the last contest. How's that?

Not complaining; I understand. :) Just wondered how they were chosen... completely at random? Special significance? Where did they come from? LOL We should use all four! Lion beating the cow-creature over the head with a hammer, whilst standing in a pile of leaves. "This is how we do pay-backs in the wilderness, sucker!"

Sounds good to me!

Cow creature? And the leaves are a pile of fish food actually. 8) I pretty much just pulled them out my you know what, but in a thoughtful kind of way. :)

Okay, it's a frog.... my bad. :P
On my crappy screen it looked like a cow head and appendages without a body. Or else my eyes have finally lost it.

But I downloaded them anyway, so hopefully when working with the file, I'd realize what they were. 8)

I can see why you might have seen a cow lol. I squinted my eyes, and the shape of the frog does kinda look like a cow head.
Message me if you are interested in commissions :)
