Help - Reach gallery website
"Reach" - A free dot-com art website
You read right. No more confusing links to find your gallery. Instead, we give you everything you need to display your Foundmyself gallery on the domain of your choice. This isn't just a gallery style or an image flipper. This is a complete, fully-functioning, professionally designed website.
Why would I want my own domain name? The simpler it is for people to find your gallery, the better. You can likely find a domain that’s easy for your audience to remember. Some people also think a personalized domain is the mark of a true professional.
Can I put this website anywhere? You can put your Reach gallery on any domain name you want, including www.yourname.com if it's available.
Do I have to do any extra work?If you already own a website, all you have to do copy a file, or cut-and-paste two lines of code onto your site. If you purchase a domain from us, you don’t have to do a thing.
All your art, prices, albums and PayPal buttons will be transferred over instantly. Viewers will be provided with a spam-protected version of your email, plus a link at the bottom of the page to your Foundmyself profile to contact you.
How do I maintain my Reach website?Once you've got your site up and running, you can forget about it. From that point on, just maintain your gallery on Foundmyself like you would anyway, and all changes will be seen immediately on your Reach gallery.
The gallery uses my FM username - can I customize this?Yes. You can change the name that your Reach art site uses by adding the following line to your Reach file, BEFORE the last script on the page:
<script type="text/javascript">var custom_uname="Your name here";</script>
Depending on the Reach website style you're using, you might need to add an apostrophe to your name to make it possessive. In other words, using "Peter" as your custom name might appear like "Peter Art Gallery," in which case you'd want to make your custom name "Peter's."
How are the Reach gallery websites different from gallery styles? The site will truly be yours. Your domain, your choice of style, your art. Foundmyself only places one small link back to the site at the bottom of the page, but that's it. Otherwise your Reach gallery looks and acts just like a personal portfolio website.
Now way all this is freeIt is! As you know, at Foundmyself we’re big on giving you cutting-edge tools for showcasing and selling your art, up front, for free. If you own a domain already, this feature is free. If you want to set up a domain yourself, you’re more than welcome to.
If you have less than 20% honor, your gallery will show an unobtrusive ad. If you purchase the domain setup through us, you can get an ad-free site without having 20% honor. Otherwise, you can earn honor the traditional ways, by posting to the forum, commenting in the gallery, or donating.
If I don't have a domain, do I have to buy one from Foundmyself for this to work? No, you can buy your domain and hosting wherever you'd like.
When are you going to have more Reach designs? We'll be adding more as quickly as we can.
Technical stuff
Will my new Reach website track statistics?Yes, if you purchase domain setup and hosting through Foundmyself. If you have access to the site stats that come with your own host, you can check them there as you would any traditional website.
Who’s providing the bandwidth?Foundmyself is providing the bandwidth for the bulk of the website. The only data that your server really hosts relating to your gallery is a single HTML file.
Do you have an API, XML or some other interface so I can design my own site around FM’s files? No. The idea behind this gallery system is to give beginning users with little knowledge of HTML and website design the best and most simple solution possible. If you’re capable of doing more, you might be better off designing your own standalone site.
What do I do if I’m still reading this?Stop and go set up your domain already!
