Basic tips for selling art on Ebay
In all honesty, there are many great articles out there outlining the steps you should take to sell your art on Ebay, including this one on their site. This article will focus instead on how to utilize Foundmyself with your Ebay auction to maximize sales.
How your Foundmyself gallery can help
When you upload a piece of art to Foundmyself, you automatically have a file online that you can link to from other websites. In this way, you can add art directly to your Ebay listing using HTML (more on this soon), and can bypass the redundant picture uploads Ebay asks for.
Creating and styling your listing
When you're logged in to Ebay, click "Sell" at the top of the screen, and pick a category for your art. Under the section "Help buyers find your item with a great title" give a catchy, informative title, a price, etc. Skip the next section - "Bring your item to life with pictures" - and scroll down to the section that's titled "Describe the item you're selling". Click the HTML tab.

Here's where we will be placing our images and text for your art.
It helps to know some basic HTML, but you can use our Ebay templates below if you're having trouble.
Getting the link to your image
Navigate to the image in your gallery here that you want to sell. (Control panel (our logo at top left) > View my gallery) Depending on your web browser getting the path to your image might be slightly different, but here's the basic idea: Right click (option click on Mac) the image, then click either "Copy image location" or similar if that option is available. If not, click "Properties" or similar and look for the URL to the image. It should end in '.jpg', '.png', or '.gif'. The red section below is an example of your image's URL. The rest is HTML code to tell Ebay that this is an image. Replace the red part of the code with your image URL and wa-la! You've got an image in your Ebay listing.
<img src="http://www.foundmyself.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12345/image.jpg" alt="My art on the Foundmyself art community" title="" />
To center your image and put a 15 pixel dark gray border on it, you could do this:
<p style="text-align:center;"><img src="http://www.foundmyself.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12345/image.jpg" alt="My art on the Foundmyself art community" title="" style="border:15px solid #333;" /></p>
Don't worry if this looks confusing. The key part is the first block of code, which is a simple link to your image here on Foundmyself.
Adding multiple images
You can add as many images as you want to your listing using this approach. If you have other views of your art, like closeups or details, upload those to your Foundmyself gallery and copy the link like you did before. Simple as that!
Image size
If you notice that your image has "normal_" appended to the front of the name (like normal_image.jpg), you can access a larger image. Just remove the entire "normal_" portion, including the underscore. If you replace "normal_" with "thumb_", you can access the thumbnail version of your image.
