I then built up the back, and filled the cavity with poured plaster. Twigs were embedded into the plaster. The plaster makes the full piece weigh more than 50 pounds, which adds to the concept of the weight of motherhood. I used charcoal to draw on the front. I heated beeswax and paraffin wax in separate crockpots.
