In 1838 the Cherokee were forced to move from Georgia to Oklahoma, a trip of over 1000 miles. Of 15,000, 4000 men, women, and children died of hunger, disease, exhaustion, or being shot.
One of the government's "Final Solutions" to the 'Indian problem'.
It became known as "The Trail of Tears"

Tremendously evocative! I drove some of the Trail of Tears from AR to OK a few years back - powerful area.

I like that you paint from the heart. The silhouettes and colors are really effective.
