What is an emotional connection? The relationship created by our feelings towards our environment. The way we feel when we are in a place, but also our behavior towards it.
e m o t i o n a l c o n n e c t i o n invites us to awaken our attention in the places we frequent, to become aware of the history and the importance of these places, and to meditate on their beauty and on the importance of respecting them and helping to conserve them in quality of living space.
During her artistic residency in Belgrade, Soraya Poulin wanted to artistically transcribe the emotions felt by spending time in different places and by putting into practice the philosophical and spiritual concepts of meditation and contemplation. She made collages, mixing photography, painting and sketches of the places visited, after taking notes and making sketches on the spot in order to capture the particular atmosphere that attracted her to these places.
In her work, she sought the balance between lyrical abstraction and the use of color symbolism, and voluntarily leaves to the spectator the free interpretation of the work in order to awaken his own emotions towards the place represented.
