I like this very much. I don't find the lack of light catching the lip and chin as a problem, it lends the idea the subject has his head bowed slightly, as his posture suggests. My only suggestion for possible change would be to crop it, centering the subject... I know as a rule the center of focus ...

This is my favorite so far, it keeps getting better. I loved the first two you posted, but, I think the subject matter is more unique, also, the high contrast of tonal values really make this one 'pop!!!'

Keep them coming, you cannot share too much.

I love your work! Great to see a fellow Texan on board, too. But, Very Rural Texas covers a lot of territory, I am from very rural West Texas which covers half the state.

Howdy and good luck with your sale next spring, from down below Abilene.

I like both ideas, possibly the hungry frog best. Either story can be done with pictures, no text. And, I would suggest a "li'l frog' series of stories, if not for the poor froggy's unfortunate end. :(

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I would have had to pick up at least one of those rocks and put it in my pocket. Don't ask me why, I never thought about why I do it, until I was observed doing it, and the woman told me her father would do it, too. Sometimes, the rock gets taken home and stashed away ...

Thank you, for your comments. No, I didn't work on this very long, just about an hour. I was trying to block in the colors and values, just got started on it really. I was more or less stippling in the color map of the ol' birds face, it was kind of serendipitous that with his dimply skin, the dabbl...

Thank you, very much. :D I reallly need to finish this. I already missed the deadline to submit it in a competition our art guild had, but, I should finish it for next year. I need to do some correction, I kinda have his body flat on the left side, and need to get some definition in the tail feather...

Since we are showing our turkeys, I thought you might like to see the painting I have begun. This is the roughing in with some beginning on the details.
