Re: Critique & Suggestions

" can't seem to keep the life of the preliminary drawing intact through the path to a finished piece" The very essence of art is that there is not a direct path to a finished piece. Art is more of a personal journey and outcomes of all journeys have a energy of the unknown and discovery. R...

Re: Would love some advice

Hello this is lovely ! If I were to offer a critique for growing improvement. Because you do have dark areas and lights, I think the contrast needs to be brought out a little. Some of the darkest shadows need to go to black to make the white pop. However another interpretation is to just have a mute...

Re: Can you all critique my latest piece? Its on grief and l

Hello Luka, I hope my comments will aide you in you own artistic self discovery. The imagery of the skull is too overpowering to me. The impermanence of life can be represented by a dying flower, what other symbols might work ? In Grief the rendering of the hands is the most realistic. Where as the ...

How do you perceive the change ? I noticed you zoomed in some. Can you crop the right side, yet keep the full width of the branch holding the tree ? You adjusted the color to have more impact, nice !

Re: Thank you all for looking and talking about my art

Hi there, the water movement is lovely, however it seems to lack a focal point. Framing such as a tree or a rock formation would provide a sense of depth, or even an interesting rock within the water creating a rule of thirds focal point. The tree swing, love it. I wonder if the partial tree on the ...

Re: New to this site

Hello, I was an art teacher, in my experience every one, artists, non artists. We all crave validation, its very basic human need. An "experienced artist" is not an applicable model for a "beginning artist" We have to learn to roll over before we can crawl ! Learning to create ar...

Re: Art Critique

Hello there, the biggest obstacle to every artist is self judgement. Ask yourself: why do you want to create art? Does in make you feel wonderful in the moment of creation ? Do not allow self judgement to judge something done with the joy of the heart and creation. Looking at art from this perspecti...

Re: painting your own drawings? why do it?

The thing about art ... it truly is the journey. We are our own worst critics. Art is for the freedom to take a "mistake" and make it a feature. Art is an exploration ... and we grow and learn with each new piece. I had to stop and think about myself and art the other day. I want to return...
