Re: Spirit of the season

Sorin, what a gorgeous painting! :D For me, Christmas time now involves shopping for birthday gifts and baking cupcakes, because my younger daughter will turn 2 years old on Dec. 24th!! yay! Until recently, I never did much to celebrate the holidays, aside from decorating the artificial tree... whic...

Re: Hi everyone--new here!

Hi Diane! I dabbled in pastels once, and didn't get very far with them (lol).. so I really admire the details, realism, and mood you've acheived with your work. Don't underestimate yourself; you're incredibly talented! :D I thoroughly enjoyed your gallery thus far, and look forward to seeing more. :)

Re: New art contest - 'Another 9'

Okay... I'm in under the wire.... hopefully. :P I tried to go with the burlap sewn, rag doll things... except mine are cats. As always. I wanted to focus on the casualties of war. In this post-apocalyptic world, there are bound to be some children left behind without anyone to care for them... feari...

Re: I'm brand new

As I commented on your Bass, I really enjoy your detailed artwork. Everything is so lifelike... fur, leaves, tree branches.. I agree it could use a bit more shading.

I especially liked the deer jumping over the wire fence; I'm hoping the hunter is a really bad shot and the poor thing escapes!

Re: Butterfly

Well, if I had to find something... that little squiggly reflection of light in the bottom corner, that's shaped like an "E" ... seems a bit odd. If the water is washing onto land in one direction, would the ripples run backwards? I wouldn't know, having never sat there and studied the tid...

Re: Artist Statement

Gary, There are two art shows this winter I'd like to apply for, both of which require an artist statement along with a small portfolio (about 10 images); also a local gallery is advertising space (there's an entrance fee, and they take 30% of the sale) but they require a statement also. I'm not sur...
