Re: Poured paintings to a 3d printed guide.

I do not wonder if abstract painting is an excuse for poor or lazy skills. Most of art history's most famous abstract painters were once fantastic realists. I think the difference between depiction and reality is what makes it interesting, no matter how great that difference is. Anyway... I agree wi...

Re: New watercolour to continue series

Wow! Love the new one. If I'm honest, I find the face to be strange... Beautifully strange though! I do think the mouth seems to exist on a different plane than the rest of the face. It looks closer to parallel to the surface, whereas the plane the eyes are on looks like it would intersect the paper...

Re: Story of my Creative Art

Ditto. *insert words of awe-inspiring wisdom here*

Seriously. Your art is a gift. Give it back to the world by letting them be artists too, creating their own fictional storyline of your process. If we had to understand art to enjoy it, no one would make it or view it. Yet here we are, doing both.

Re: "just be honest"

Though I love me some drips, I have to agree with the first commenter. If you cleaned the edges with some extra-white gesso, there could be more focus on the real focus of the work. (I doubt you were wanting two drips and a couple edge splatters to be what steals my attention most.) Super cool! You ...

Re: Would love to hear what people think of my technique

In addition to your very successful use of conte (especially in achieving realistic flesh tones), your composition is particularly successful. I enjoy the way his body goes off the edge in every direction with exception of his hand, which repeatedly brings my eye to the hand and its wound. Fantastic...

Re: New here! Please help!

Pretty please? I just graduated and want feedback on my work as I'm transitioning into having to make time for my work. All of these were for class.

Re: A couple of recent paintings for critique.

Personally, I find the spur painting far more interesting. However, it has a very un-spur-like lack of movement. If I were you, I would add something to the background and/or some contrast/light source to the piece to bring more attention to the qualities of the spur. Great start!

Re: Could you give me some advice about my paintings?

All of this work is gorgeous beyond commercial beauty. The moth monolith is my favorite. General advice: when you don't know what to paint, paint anyway. I'm more of a response artist than a planner, but I think anyone should try responding to materials rather than just ideas. Once you cover a canva...

Re: Watercolor Piece-Need help and opinions!

This has a beautiful range of color! If you were to start over, I would suggest trying to keep some areas white. When all the paper is covered with color, sometimes the contrast and thus the tension in the work to which people respond is lost entirely. I really like the idea of matching the colorful...
