Free Hosts?

Postby Femme--Fatale » Mon Aug 07, 2006 12:48 pm

Uggh. It's so hard to find free (good) hosting sites. I really like sites that are HTML friendly because I make my website layouts through HTML and stuff... and other ways too, like through FTPs, css, and stuff like that.

But anyway, does anybody know of a good host that's free and HTML friendly? One besides Tripod, Geocities, and Freewebs.... I don't really like any of those since they aren't very HTML friendly. And if they are, it's too much spamming all over my sites.

Thanks! It's greatly appreciated! =)

Web site Options

Postby Linda Hinchey » Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:44 pm

I know this is an old post but maybe it will help others... try looking at http://www.mister.net and a totally free host out of the UK without advertising or pop-ups is http://www.portland.co.uk/webhosting.esp

I create my html pages and then upload them via my FTP.

Update: Portland no longer offers free hosting and free subdomains.

If you don't mind ads, http://www.50megs.com is easy and has lots of templates to choose from. You can even pay to have the ads removed... If it's important to you. Also, http://www.slide.com makes great slide shows so you can add them anywhere... i.e. website, myspace, facebook, etc. I use it and I don't have to worry about uploading hundreds of art images to website pages.

I need to find a few more without all that html gibberish. I just dumped my Geocities account after 6 months of trying without success to put it together. I guess that's why it's free.

My site at Freewebs has html that's easy to install. Half my site is code, the other half template. It's free, and IT works.

I know I've been away for some time, but I don't understand the previous post.

And by the way, the free host that I posted about previously in this thread no longer offers free subdomain & domain hosting.
