Instagram selling your photos

Postby bloodjelly » Tue Dec 18, 2012 12:26 pm

Even if you're not a photographer, Instagram is going to step on a lot of toes with this policy. Essentially they are claiming rights to sell and use your photos without compensation. :?

If I had an account I'd pull it. Anyone else plan on leaving because of this?

Yeah I heard this. I'm kind of torn. I love Instagram and I don't take those photos professionally, it's just for personal stuff. On the other hand I do use it to post pics of my paintings. So it bears a lot if thought. It's possible they'll receive so much flak that they reverse this policy. But not likely.

Here's an update from the co-founder: http://blog.instagram.com/post/38252135 ... -listening

Good news, overall, whether it's clarifying he's doing or whether it's backpedaling because of backlash:

...it was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation. This is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing. To be clear: it is not our intention to sell your photos. We are working on updated language in the terms to make sure this is clear.

Thank you for taking the time to post this... One of the best ways to send this companies/websites a message is to remove you account. They believe people is stupid enough to be abused and still be happy to use their websites.
