Shipping Fees in the USA

Postby Bill Hewes » Fri Nov 01, 2019 3:04 pm

Okay folks I need some help from people in the US. Now just so you know I don't ship paintings at all. But I am thinking about doing it. So I need help with estimating shipping fees etc. For example a 36 x 36 or 40 x 40 inch painting and larger what do you pay? Also who do you buy your boxes from?

I'm in my 60's and I don't really want to deal with people, Oh I don't like it I want to return it etc.. So what's you rules etc. for this?

That's why I like shows and galleries :P

Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, I've been doing some research on shipping. Setting up an account with one of your local shipping offices and getting to know who and how your artwork is handled is probably best. Comfort through a relationship! Hope this helps. Nick

Thanks Getahgrip,
I was wondering what people paid. I no one give me the exact amount I'd pay. I was just looking for general/average prices.

Thanks,
Bill

It's really hard to say what shipping will cost until you are trying to ship it. I do all my shipping with USPS. If you go to their website they have an established shipping section that is supposed to tell you approximate costs for shipping. www.usps.com however, it has not been accurate for me when I've used it. Prices vary by size, weight and where in the US it is going. I can tell you I've paid $9.95 for a 12x12 wood piece weighting approximately 3 lbs. And $18.95 for a 16x16 weighting approximately 5 pounds, but I've has pieces that have cost much more than that. Sorry if this is not very helpful.
