15312 ... comments and critique welcome

Postby Clide Course » Wed May 19, 2010 1:48 pm

Greetings, as this is my first post, I would like to open the forum to the critique of a wall relief: 15312. Using an abstraction of Phi, Pi, and square roots to achieve a pattern that is meant to mimic patterns and geometries found in nature. The medium is hand-carved poplar with acrylic stains and measures 22" X 33" X 3/4". I have a larger image and similar work posted in my gallery, should you find it of interest. http://www.foundmyself.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-55451 Thanks for the time and also to the webmasters for their skills.

I love your style! It is so unique and scientific. I actually had a lesson on Phi (Pi) with my gifted classes. They were so amazed at how everything around us (including ourselves) had a golden proportion. What was astonishing was finding how da Vinci and the other masters incorporated this early on in their work!

I'm also very interested in this! I use some of the same ideas in my work.

Your results are very harmonious!

i used phi first to assign the dimensions of the rectangle then used the first fibonacci numbers 1,1,2,3,5 as divisions for each side in a clockwise fashion (12 units) mixed them up a bit, connected the dots, and layed the curves over the points in a sinoid. hope thats not confusing...Thanks for your comments
