Oil on Canvas

Postby Karina Faddel » Sat Sep 25, 2010 3:25 am

I would love some feedback on this painting, all comments are much appreciated.
The colours don't show up very well in the photo, they are a bit more vibrant on the canvas, I'm sure you can see enough to give your opinions.
Thanks

I think the tree branches are fantastic, Karina, and I really like your colors!
My only critique would be with the composition. It just looks a little too bare (blank) in the middle. I think something there (perhaps just another branch or two, a distant figure?) would really help it look more 'complete'.
Hope that helps.

Hi,

This is very nice, I love the colors, however I also miss something from the whole. First I thought that it was still in the process.

Sorina please could you elaborate on what you wrote?

This was a basic structure of the painting, I was told to leave it as is, I appreciate the feed back, know they are silent so I can move on :)

I love how smooth and glossy you made the tree look. And the colours seems very nice and delicate. :)

the painting is well done for what it is, but it is missing something, maybe not a figure necessarily, but a theme. It does look unfinished. I hesitate in making a suggestion of what exactly it should be - but perhaps looking back at a memory could inspire you.

Okay, I just thought of something, how about encorporating a complimentary colour or two somewhere to add more interest? blue or purple . . . . . sky? okay, I'm getting bolder than I wanted to now
Hope I am being helpful Karina, cheers

it has taken on a forboding feel now. A spark of mystery. What was your original intentionality?
