Happy Halloween Everybody! Boo.

Postby Reisa L. Gerber » Mon Oct 31, 2005 10:02 am

I had thought a few things within several days that has made me wonder
about reality...tonight is Halloween! Know what? Go to Walmart and get one of
those inkydink cameras, polaroid, that is....Costs thirteen dollars,
and film comes in three for ten bucks....I'll ignore the blogcritic bill....gettin' up
to ten bucks there! Happy Halloween to everyone, no matter what age....
The one thing done that I will not do again is make a jack-o-lantern!
I remember when my niece was four. She got on the phone and said,
"Aunt Rei, you're not going to put anything in my candy that's bad, are you?
Because mommy said,"we don't know these people in this neighborhood,
and she has to come with me to check it out."I said, "Of course you can trust me,
Samantha....And the most amazing thing of all, is, she's playing lead in the
synagogue chapter of the area in Buffalo! (New York)...." Anne Frank..."
Oh my G-d. First on her birthday, it was a 2 week trip to Israel.
I said to mom, "Is she out ofher head???!" Mom smiled...her aunt and uncle
have been to Israel often, and certainly can fit in a litle one for Sam...
and I"m like, "OH MY G-D!!!". So lately, I've gone in the back to "play guitar"
but I'll never play like I did, or drive, like I did...
Well, it's been a treat to talk to my peers...etc.
Happpy Halloween!
Luv and Luv,
Reisa L. Gerber
P.S. Don't answer through e-mail because after the hurricaine down here,
I had about a 20 back-up of messages....thankyou.
I have to find out more about the legistics of
downloading, etc...because I love to share pictures...
I hoope I can transfer some through e-mail to you at
some hopeful point!

I'm bummed...

Postby Carson Collins » Mon Oct 31, 2005 3:18 pm

Hallowe'en is, and always has been, my favorite holiday. I've made a Jack O'lantern every year since I was 4 (that was 1958). Usually the production co. that I work for part-time has at least one Hallowe'en-themed event. This year, for some reason or other, we didn't... and I just got over a truly repulsive viral pharyngitis; I'm still feeling really too punk to go to the bars. Nobody I know is having a party tonight... Well, that's OK, there's a grocery store I pass by on the way home from work/studio on my bicycle. I'll stuff a pumpkin in my bag and spend the evening carving it, right?

I get to the store around 5:30 pm and there are no pumpkins. One of the produce guys is there; I ask him if they sold out... and damn' it if he doesn't tell me that the store never did have any! Wynn-Dixie just doesn't do that any more.

Bloody Hell! What ever happened to traditional values? Hallowe'een is already banned from the schools in this State (FL), you know. That would be because the "fundamentalist Christian" types insist that it's DEVIL WORSHIP, and as we all know this is a red state (the President's brother is Governor, for those of you who don't remember the 2000 election), so there you are. Sad to see a 3000-year-old (at least) holiday that was so much fun dying out. It was the most creative of the holidays and the only night of the year that I could go to a party and not have to take myself along...
