Digital Painting of my Girlfriend

i had the reference image as a rough idea, and then took the likeness of her from memory, and what i feel for her into the image to make it as pure as i could, no make up nothing, added freckles and nice lighting to the skin, what do you guys think, first every digital painting in GIMP 2.6

Scott, this kind of work needs a lot of efforts what you made and it's obviously. Well honed forms and true general proportions. But let me be frank. From my standpiont it's not clear where does light came from. It's soft and dentle, you are right but I can't realize what is the source. A kind of confusion results fom it. Therein both colours and forms turn unnatural somewhere.
But I think you are on the right way. A bit of practice bring you even greater success!:) It may be worth to believe again that you are an Artist too!

You did great! The only thing I would suggest, is to make the one eye on the right a tish bigger :) Other than that, I just don't know what else you could change! Love it! Amazing! Excited to see what else you do! :D
