Would love to hear what people think of my technique

Postby EmmaLeStrange » Sun May 12, 2013 7:54 pm

Hi Everyone,

I've spent quite a few years perfecting my technique in using conte crayons. Finally, this year I have got up the courage to have my first solo exhibition. I am a figure drawer at heart and would love some feed back.
Here is a link to my foundmyself gallery

and my favorite drawing so far, (think I need to move that nipple) inspired by Pieta- Michelangelo:

Amazing detail and texture! The back part of the white blanket isn't as strong as the rest of the piece - that's my only critique. Your technique is incredible, without a doubt.

In addition to your very successful use of conte (especially in achieving realistic flesh tones), your composition is particularly successful. I enjoy the way his body goes off the edge in every direction with exception of his hand, which repeatedly brings my eye to the hand and its wound. Fantastic work!

Reminds me of under painting, chiaroscuro, verdaccio and grisaille, strongly defined contrasts. A strong image and very well balanced composition. I didn't even see the wounds until I read the previous statement.
