Bjork

Postby Rez » Thu Aug 19, 2004 3:01 pm

her new album (Medulla) is coming out august 31st, but i'm hearing the first nine tracks are so and there's definately some "wtf" moments, (since it's all beatboxing, choirs, and singing, no instruments) but it takes patience, and it has really grown on me.

that, and i'm wondering if anyone here likes her too..

I won a CD of hers in one of my design classes, I forgot how, and tried listening to it but couldn't take it, so I used it as a frisbee. I think I'm ready to give her another chance, though, since I've heard good things about her, including your little review here. Thanks.

OK I've heard the new CD, and it actually sounds the same to me as her older stuff, probably since I didn't really give her a chance before. There are some nice tracks on this one, and I like the way she played with off beats and otherwise unharmonious chords. We definitely won't hear this on KWOD here in Davis.

new CD is fucking nuts, and this is on repeat since i got it last night. went to the midnight sale at armadillo, who billed it as a papa roach midnight sale which was a fucking mistake, and got my hard copy of it then...

the real copy is always better than an mp3 rip anyday. 1140bitrate with a voice like that makes me melt.

I've only heard a few things by her. But what I've heard, I like, I've been thinking of going out and picking up one of her albums, when I get some extra cash.

Yup, gotta love Bjork. She has her own style, and weirdly cool voice to go with it. I love her.
Peace.

That Medulla album is sooo wierd! But it did make me go out and buy another which was Joga - the string riffs at the beginning are really gorgeous.

A girl at Glasgow School of Art course came in with 'Sod Off' written in huge letters across her top. I was a bit miffed by it, but she turned round and it had 'Bjork' on the other side so I ended up buying the album that night. Its good stuff! x
