awful stench

Postby thegemsculptor » Fri Nov 09, 2007 10:59 am

I can think of a # of sequels that have stullified me with their stench. The second Highlander film comes to mind. The 1st was pretty enjoyable, but that 2nd one! What was Connery thinking,or was he just drinking?

I was really disappointed about the re-make of the stepford wives. That could have been a good movie if they didn't do it as a comedy. I liked the original, would have really liked a good remake of it.

I'm probably one of the only guys you'll ever meet, that liked Stepford Wives(orig.)It was a comedy, in a way.

Here's a sequel poser for anyone who wants to tackle it. The Hannibal Lector movies. Manhunter is the 1st film, with Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising(sucked) following. In the book releases RD/MH is 1st, Lambs 2nd, Hannibal 3rd and Rising 4th. Chronologically, Rising is 1st, RD/MH is 2nd, Lambs 3rd and Hannibal 4th.

Which ones are the sequels? If the films had started off with Rising, there wouldn't be any sequels.

Silence of the Lambs

Postby thegemsculptor » Sat Nov 10, 2007 11:00 am

Silence of the Lambs was the only movie of the series I liked.I understand why Jodie Foster refused to do Hannibal.I could never grasp the motive for Agent Starlings attraction to Hannibal Lector in theat movie.Yuck!

On a lighter note....I just saw Blazing Saddles again a couple nights ago.
The scene with everyone farting around the campfire has got to be,
in my opinion, a classic scene. It fits right in
with FM and that fetish with farts!

The rest of the movie is 'fair' with the satire.

campfire farting

I thought the campfire farting scene in the Beavis and Butthead movie was also pretty funny.

Well, I can't speak for Agent Starlings, but what I find so attractive about old Hannibal the Cannibal is his complete and utter contempt for the human race. There's something that's really quite refreshing about it.

contempt

Postby thegemsculptor » Sat Nov 10, 2007 1:49 pm

I don't know if I feel contempt for humanity as much as disppointment in the human experience in general. It's a difficult thing to come to peace with.I have a theory that this disappointment, and the powerlessness to change it is a root cause for a lot of peoples depression. On a lighter note, what you guys think of Dazed and Cofused. It's one of my favorite movies.
