Avatar - I recommend it....

Please go and watch this movie if you haven't already seen it... For me, it closely resembled the constant tug of war between land developers and the Native American Indians.. It is a beautiful movie, Joyful and also sad in parts, filled with action and excitement and has a wonderful ending...
The movie has a message; that nature and its sacred places should be revered and protected, indigenous cultures left alone...
This is James Cameron again at his finest....

Avatar was really excellent - best time I've had in a movie theater in recent memory - and I'll also agree that the "message" was a great one.
Of course the visual artistry and imagination that went into making the special effects were breathtaking, and probably will remain so even after all movies are 3-D.
As you point out, it is also quite obviously the "Cowboys and Indians" theme that was so tediously overworked back in the 40s and 50s. (I was a kid in the 50s and still have trouble making myself watch a "Western".)
On the other hand, the plot is quite formulaic: it's The U.S. Cavalry v.s. the Natives, the Natives win, and the guy gets the girl. (I wish they had done more with the guy getting the girl thing, but you lose a lot of money if you don't get that PG rating.)
Also, one is left with the feeling that, just like in the European conquest of the Americas, they'll be back, in greater numbers, and with more firepower.

That movie gave me great feelings, it was just beautiful..
I've watched it twice already..
and collected a number of the avatar posters..

[I need to get used to wearing the 3D shades though, I find it a turn off when a movie is in 3D]
