Poem: Flood

"When you are old and gray and full of sleep, and nodding by the fire, take down this book and slowly read, and dream of the soft look your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep."

Poem: Flood

FLOOD

Our love is lost in liquid black,
The darkness of a shark's eye, circling--

Drowning, anger fills my soul
With squirming things--
Words of hate leap like toads.

Tarnished shine of fear
In your suffocating embrace--
A wild thing tied and drained,
I was lost for a thousand years.

Breaking bones like monsters
From my childhood dreams--
Your face spinning down the drains.

hi laura - tell the public - where the first foot line (modal) is. if there isn't one try using a rewritten one. like art poetry is best understood logically top right down. Okay!
