Siren

"When you are old and gray and full of sleep, and nodding by the fire, take down this book and slowly read, and dream of the soft look your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep."

Siren

Feeling the way I feel
Seeking something real
What once was beautiful
Is but a poison pill.
Superficial ship sailing shallow sea
Flattery pampering vanity
Luring charm, velvet tongue
Promises promises all undone
Carcass wreck, driftwood shore
Siren's deceiving call.
Beside the hearth the fire inside
Cracking, spitting, flames rising
Poetry burning, heartbreak, lust
Words to ashes... love to dust.
