There's The Pixies, Bob Dylan and the Band, Caribou, PJ Harvey (with the Rid of Me-era lineup), The Hendrix Experience, the groups of Coltrane and Pharoah, so on and so forth. It's always hard to rank favorites because there's so much variety out there, with bands that excel at their unique style.
