Since we are showing our turkeys, I thought you might like to see the painting I have begun. This is the roughing in with some beginning on the details.

I like your brush strokes! Very impressionistic. I like it! Hey I don't really know nothing about painting but I'd say this is very good anyway! :D

Thank you, very much. :D I reallly need to finish this. I already missed the deadline to submit it in a competition our art guild had, but, I should finish it for next year. I need to do some correction, I kinda have his body flat on the left side, and need to get some definition in the tail feathers, though, not as much as in the head. I love his face, that is my focal point.

P. S. A note to those struggling with using acrylics, striving for the look of an oil painting, acrylics cry out for an Impressionistic approach, the bold unblended brush strokes seem to just be there...it is the nature of the medium.

I agree the left side could use some shading to bring out the volume a bit. I've never seen acrylic used with such short choppy strokes, and it's interesting to see how you made them into a face. Did it take a long time? Acrylic is a difficult medium to warm up to for me, at least. Glad to see you've got a method for it.

Thank you, for your comments. No, I didn't work on this very long, just about an hour. I was trying to block in the colors and values, just got started on it really. I was more or less stippling in the color map of the ol' birds face, it was kind of serendipitous that with his dimply skin, the dabbling pretty much got the textures I want for the finished work.
