from Jonny555

I spent just over 8 hours drawing this last night/this morning. I used 2B and 4B pencils. I could have done with using a 6B really, but dropped it last night, so it looks like a trip into town to stock up again.

The image is just slightly smaller than in reality. All critique most welcome.

Just awesome but I would like to see a glimmer of light reflected on the beak as well as the wonderful light in the eye! Just beautiful! :D

What nice colors - you really made the drawing come alive. OK here I changed my opinion. Before I thought maybe the highlight around the face would have looked better if it didn't hug the profile so closesly, but I like it so well just the way it is. Have you thought about doing this bird in flight?

I think I would struggle while flapping my arms.

When I get a chance I will be doing several paintings of birds in flight. It's just a matter of finding the time. This last few weeks I've been so busy I've barely had chance to pick up my brush. I tried yesterday and failed miserably.

Can't wait to see some. I'm going to try working on a painting for your November competition but we'll see. I have to learn how to paint first. :|

:) Beautiful work on both versions. I have to admit to loving the first one more though. I think it has to do with the detailed graphite look. The water color one is seriously pretty. I just prefer the first one. What a talent you have. :)
