My Biography
IanAtkinson F.I.P.G

After being apprenticed as a Silversmith in the early 1970s I went on to design and create hand crafted wares for many years for visitors to the Lake District and beyond.
In the early 1990s I was accepted as a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths. F.I.P.G.
My work has been presented to Her Majesty ,The Queen ,The Princess Royal ,The Prince Of Wales, Princess Diana, Harry and William.
Organisations I have been commissioned by include: The Royal Scots at Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Irish Regiment ,Members of The Black Dyke Mills Band, The WestLakes research Institute and the Asociation of British Insures
Although I had a formal apprenticeship as a Silversmith I am a completely self taught Painter, my style maybe regarded as modern, contempory, abstract ,it all depends on how somebody perceives it .
In 2005 I sold my showroom and business premises to free up more time to indulge in things I am passionate about rather than work to commission all the time.
My work is sold mainly online with the exception of some local galleries , with the coming of the computer age I have compiled a database of past clients which is growing due to word of mouth which is the best advertising an artist could have.
