Traffic light

This image of a traffic light is a statement for me about street art and visual art for me. With an art scene that is beginning to have a real connection to the street, the theme of the image is more important than its utility. Yes, it is actually useful to have lights that are brightly colored and have graphics on them. But the image itself is the art, not the lamp.

In the drawing there is nothing to help you know what the lamp is actually made of. That is because I feel that at its best, street art is about communication and symbiosis with people. Not commerce.

The last thing I want to say is that I would love to see more galleries like this in Manhattan, that can bring creative activity, conversation and interactions for street art to the main street of the city.
