This is test footage shot one frame at a time. The footage was shot at 24 frames for each second of film.I built the stop motion model myself. It is a steel and aluminum ball and socket jointed armature. The armature is based on the original 1933 King Kong armature as well as armatures designed by Ray Harryhausen ( my idol ). The metal armature is sculpted over with foam rubber and polyester muscles and covered with molded latex skin and artificial fur. The model is moved into various positions between frames. and photographed, ( much like an animated cartoon only using a 3 dimensional model.
